The Ramblas of Barcelona
Just 3 minutes from the hotel
A few steps from the Hotel, you will find the famous Ramblas of Barcelona. This central boulevard, which crosses the heart of the city, is simultaneously a vibrant and lively promenade where the best expression of Barcelona’s activity can be experienced. In this one-and-a-half-kilometer stretch connecting Plaza de Catalunya with the Columbus Monument, the journey itself is the main attraction.
Joan Miró’s Mosaic
This famous mosaic, created by renowned artist Joan Miró, was inaugurated on December 23, 1976, and named “Pla de l’Os.”
The artwork measures about 65 square meters and is composed of small terrazzo tiles in five colors. True to the artist’s wishes, it is neither protected by any material nor receives special cleaning treatments compared to the rest of the pavement, making it a popular and interactive element of the city.
Palau de la Virreina (Palace of La Virreina)
This monumental building was originally a private residence commissioned by Manuel de Amat, the former Viceroy of Peru, upon his return to Barcelona in 1776. It is known as the Palace of La Virreina since, after Amat’s premature death, it became the residence of his wife.
The palace is a sumptuous structure with Baroque touches. Today, it serves as a venue for temporary exhibitions and is notable for its central courtyard, which forms part of Barcelona’s City Council Culture Headquarters.
La Boqueria Market
La Boqueria Market, or Saint Joseph Market, is one of Barcelona’s most visited landmarks—a must-see for locals and tourists alike. It offers a captivating mix of colors, flavors, and a lively atmosphere. The colorful municipal market covers more than 2,500 square meters and features over 300 stalls offering all kinds of products.
Don’t forget to explore Las Ramblas…
We recommend visiting three key locations near our Hotel, located along the famous Ramblas:
- Plaza Catalunya: The nerve center of Barcelona, connecting the old town with L’Eixample. Always bustling with life, this square converges with four major commercial avenues: Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, Portal de l’Àngel, and Las Ramblas itself.
- Font de Canaletes (Canaletas Fountain): Located on the right side of the central promenade of Las Ramblas, this fountain is one of the city’s most popular landmarks. Tradition says that anyone who drinks from it will someday return to Barcelona.
- Columbus Monument: Situated in front of Barcelona’s port, this statue symbolizes the discovery of America with Columbus pointing his finger outward. Inside the monument is an elevator that takes visitors up to an observation deck, offering an impressive panoramic view of the city.
