This fantastic square owes its name, “Royal,” to its beauty and is undeniably one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.

The lamp posts in Barcelona’s Plaça Reial (Royal Square) were designed by the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí i Cornet.
These were among his first works in 1879 after graduating as an architect, with two of them being installed in this Royal Square.
